The foundations predate generative AI

Enterprise AI services draw on analytics, machine learning, enterprise software, cloud services and consulting. Generative AI expands the range of tasks, while data readiness, business understanding and delivery management remain essential.

Four useful starting points

Management consultancies often enter through strategy and organizational needs. IT and integration firms work near existing systems. Specialist AI teams develop from models, algorithms or industry applications. Model and platform ecosystems connect to enterprises directly or through implementation partners. These are lenses, not rankings.

A global view, a specific division of work

Whatever the provider’s location, a project must connect business, data, technology and operations. A company may combine several capabilities, so categories alone do not establish fit.

Ask four questions

Which business problem does the provider understand? Who performs the implementation? Where does delivery stop? Who owns the system after launch? Record the answers in the scope, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.

This is an explanatory framework for discussing enterprise AI services. Implementation details and commercial terms are agreed for each engagement.
